Goal
The goal is not to see how many photos we can post, but, rather, to post good photos of SUS.
All references herein to photos apply as appropriate to videos as well [ easier for you to read ]. You may send digital photos to the newsletter editor for posting. No print photos please; we will not digitize them for you.
Where to see them
SUS photos and videos are held at the photo website,
SmugMug
. You can go there directly and search for SUS or sus. Or you can go directly to the area holding
SUS photos
. There is no password required to view SUS photos. You can also go to
SmugMug’s Visitor Help
.
As with many such sites, you may view the photos in different styles [ thumbnails, slide, gallery ], different sizes, order prints and gifts, leave comments, etc. Please bear with us as we add photos. This effort is a work in process.
Who can see them
The photos are on the internet and are not pass-worded. The photos can be easily viewed by you, your family and friends, and by everyone with net access. With that in mind …
If you are being photographed and do not want your photo on the internet, please tell the photographer not to send the photo to us for posting. If you are a photographer, please confirm with your subjects that they all agree you send the photo to us for posting. If a photo is sent to us for posting, we must and will assume the photographer, the sender of the photo if different from the photographer and the subjects in the photo, all understand and agree the photo
may be posted to the internet for all mankind to view.
Nevertheless, should a photographer, sender or subject want a photo removed from the site, please let us know. Send us the gallery name, the photo number and a brief description [ the photo number may have changed, so we may have to contact you ].
Requirements for submission
We have not tried video yet, but understand video may be in any reasonable format but must not exceed ten minutes in length. And ten minutes is a long time to be watching an internet video.
Photos must be in JPEG format [ .jpg file extension ].
You may send photos of any reasonable size. There is no need to reduce the byte size [ resolution ] of the photo for viewing on the web. The higher the resolution, the better the print version should someone order a print. Of course smaller resolutions will work on the web as well.
A normal size photo from a digital camera may be .5MB to 2MB [ 500KB to 2,000KB ]. These sizes are acceptable for posting to the site. However, grouping several of these large images together for emailing may present difficulties depending on the email software of the sender and recipient.
A decent number of photos for a gallery is from about a dozen to, perhaps, three dozen. You may send photos by email or on a CD. You must include your name, a gallery title, and as appropriate, the location, photographer, any other pertinent information.
We repeat: The goal is not to see how many photos we can post, but, rather, to post good photos.
We will not attempt color correction, cropping, etc. You must do any modification to your photos before sending them. Send only photos that are interesting and merit posting. If we receive too many, or photos of poor color, brightness or quality, or many similar photos, or those with unrecognizable subjects, etc, we may reject the entire submission.
And, finally
We reserve the right to post, amend, modify, remove and/or not post photos or videos at our sole discretion without notice.
